This case study examined how satellite data informs decisions at various points along the agricultural value chain from the perspective of those associated with a cutting-edge digital agriculture company.
This case study gathered qualitative data through in-depth telephone interviews conducted with employees, clients, colleagues, and competitors of an international digital agriculture company. The study showed that relationships and trust between data provider and users is central for successful uptake and utilization of remote sensing information. Satellite remote sensing in digital agriculture systems delivered via computers or mobile devices is well positioned to improve agricultural productivity. The demand for remote sensing data should increase substantially when the benefits and constraints of the information are aligned with the user community needs and clearly communicated to the community. Data from Sentinel, Landsat, and weather data were examined for their utilization and uptake.
